Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Forkwise, the recipe website and web app at forkwiseapp.com (the “Service”). Forkwise is operated by Tijana Karaleic, a sole proprietor trading as “Forkwise”, Lusaka, Zambia (“we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Forkwise lets you browse and search gluten-free recipes for free. Forkwise Plus is an optional paid subscription that adds app features: weekly meal plans, a smart shopping list, saving and editing your own recipes, an ad-free experience, members-only Star recipes (Forkwise originals and recipes Tijana cooks and trusts) as they are added, and the ability to message Tijana directly (see section 8). Browsing recipes and watching the cooking videos are free for everyone. Features may be improved or changed over time; we will not materially reduce what a paid plan includes during a billing period you have already paid for.

2. Purchases, billing and Merchant of Record

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

When you buy Forkwise Plus, you buy it from Paddle.com, and Paddle’s Buyer Terms apply to the payment. You can pay by card or PayPal. Paddle processes your payment, charges any sales tax or VAT that applies in your country, and sends your receipts. We never see or store your card details.

3. Forkwise Plus subscription

Price: US$5 per month (local taxes may be added at checkout depending on your country). The price and billing frequency are shown before you pay.
Renewal: your subscription renews automatically every month on the same date and is charged to your payment method (card or PayPal) until you cancel.
Cancelling: you can cancel at any time from Plus → Manage subscription in the app, from the link in your Paddle receipt email, or at paddle.net. You keep Plus until the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.
Price changes: we will tell you by email at least 30 days before any price change takes effect for your subscription; you can cancel before then.

Access: sign in with the email address you used at checkout to use Plus on any of your devices; we email you a one-time code (no password). Your membership is checked with Paddle. Keep access to your email account secure, and don’t share sign-in codes. For help with access, contact Tijana at t.karaleic@gmail.com.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to: use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent or for spam; infringe anyone’s copyright, trademarks or other rights (including in recipes, photos or videos you add); try to break, probe, overload or bypass the security or payment features of the Service; scrape or copy the Service in bulk; share your Plus access with others; or upload malware.

5. Your content

Recipes and photos you add with Forkwise Plus are stored in your own browser on your device. You keep ownership of them and are responsible for having the right to use them.

6. Our content and intellectual property

The Forkwise app, design, logo and our own text belong to us. Some recipes, photos and videos come from third-party and open sources and are credited on our Credits & sources page; they remain the property of their owners and are used under their licences. Forkwise original recipes, including Star recipes, are our own content: you may cook from them and share links to them, but please do not copy or republish them.

7. Health disclaimer

Recipes, diet labels (including “gluten-free”) and meal plans are general information only and are not medical, nutritional or allergy advice. We check every ingredient for gluten but do not test-cook or lab-test recipes, and we do not guarantee that a recipe is safe for any medical condition. Always check product labels, avoid cross-contact in your own kitchen, and talk to a qualified professional about your own needs. Recipes you add yourself are not checked by Forkwise.

8. Messaging Tijana (Forkwise Plus member support)

As part of Forkwise Plus, members can message Tijana Karaleic, the founder of Forkwise, with questions about the app, the recipes, cooking, and living gluten-, egg- and dairy-free day to day. This is a member support and community benefit of your subscription, alongside the app features above. Tijana shares support and tips from her own experience.

It is not medical advice. Tijana is not a doctor, dietitian or other health professional. Her replies are not medical, nutritional or allergy advice, a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and they do not replace advice from a qualified professional. Do not use messages for urgent or emergency health matters: contact your doctor or local emergency services.

Replies. Tijana replies within 24 hours. In rare cases (for example illness, travel or a technical problem) a reply may take longer, and we will reply as soon as we can. Messages are for your own personal use as a member. We may decline or end a conversation that is abusive, asks for a diagnosis or treatment, or breaks these Terms. How we handle what you send is explained in our Privacy Policy.

You can send us a recipe through the Share a recipe page. By sending a recipe you confirm that it is your own recipe, not copied from a book, website or social media, and that it is gluten-free. You give Forkwise a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, edit, adapt, photograph and film the recipe in the app, on our website and in our marketing, with credit to the name you give us. You keep your rights in the recipe and can still use it yourself.

Tijana tries every recipe first and decides which recipes are published, and how. We do not have to publish a recipe or explain why we did not. We may edit it, for example to check every ingredient for gluten, adjust amounts or rewrite the method in our style. If you ask us to stop using your recipe we will remove it from new versions of the app and website within a reasonable time.

Reward. For each recipe we publish, you get 3 months of Forkwise Plus free, up to a maximum of 12 months free in total per person, added to the account linked to the email address you sent it from. The reward has no cash value, is not exchangeable for cash and cannot be transferred. While Forkwise Plus payments are not live, the free months are added once they are.

10. Availability and liability

We work to keep Forkwise running, but we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent allowed by law, the Service is provided “as is”, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Forkwise Plus in the 3 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer law in your country that cannot be excluded.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end access to the Service for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, fraud or security risks. You can stop using the Service and cancel Plus at any time.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change materially affects paying members, we will notify you by email before it applies. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Zambia, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.
